Joseph N. Matera Joseph Matera was born in May of 1932, raised in Riverside, and was a 1951 graduate of Riverside High School. He excelled at football, basketball and baseball and was proud to be inducted into the Riverside Sports Hall of Fame. He joined the US Army and served in Korea for several years. On his return from Korea, Joe went to work for the Pennsylvania Railroad. It was there that he first spotted Elsie Jamison. They were married in 1956 and settled on Main Street in Riverton where they raised their four children. Joe went to school at Wharton on the GI Bill, studying business and real estate. In 1971, he retired from the railroad and opened Matera Real Estate in the front room of their home in Riverside. Elsie was Joe's "right arm" and they took great pride in their "mom and pop" operation. In 1979, they bought investment property in Ocean City, which became a second hub of friends and activities. in 1989, Joe and Elsie moved their business up on Main Street and moved to Delanco. They remained parishioners of Sacred Heart Church in Riverton. Elsie died in 2007. Joe died April 8, 2022 in Riverton, just weeks before his 90th birthday. They are buried in Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson. US Army ? Korea 1933 - 2022
